Make sure that your car is in neutral or on second gear before replacing your shifter knob. Grasp the base of the knob, push down the plastic ring found at the bottom, and remove it from the shaft. Afterward, grab the top of the knob with one hand and pull upward to remove it from the rest of the stick.
